We recently had the pleasure of visiting our long-standing partner Cluster GAIA in the Basque Country. This trip to San Sebastian and Bilbao not only gave us fascinating insights into this dynamic region, but also opened up new opportunities for collaboration.

💡The Basque Country, also known as Euskadi, is a highly industrialized region contributing 22.8% to the gross domestic product (GDP). It has a strong focus on the manufacturing sector accounting for 23% of the economy and stands among the regions with the highest productivity rates in Europe.
💡 Collaboration possibilities for Silicon Saxony and its members: The region excels in information technology, life sciences, energy, and mechanical engineering. Notably, it prioritizes cybersecurity, housing the Cybasque cluster as part of GAIA.
💡 Similar to Dresden & Leipzig, the Basque Country has its own Basque Digital Innovation Hub (#BDIH) specialized in smart machines, digital power networks, 3D printing, adaptable robotics, healthcare tech, advanced materials, data-driven solutions, and cybersecurity.
💡 The Basque Open Industry event served as a vibrant platform uniting Basque and European institutions to delve into the latest trends in Advanced Manufacturing technologies. Beyond #AI, the agenda covered enlightening discussions on Quantum Computing and Cybersecurity.
As part of our EU-funded project #EXCITE, we engaged in the three-day mission to Basque Country. Our goal: facilitate exchanges between cluster ecosystems for mutual growth.
Thank you to our host #GAIA for the perfect preparation and hospitality. We will be back!
